What Is Airtable

Airtable is a flexible no-code platform that combines the familiarity of spreadsheets with the power of a relational database. Companies use it to manage projects, client bases, inventory, requests, content, and virtually any other type of data.

The built-in Automations tool lets you trigger actions based on events — a new record, a field change, a date arriving — and make HTTP requests to external services. This is the mechanism used to connect SMS.MD.

How to Connect SMS.MD to Airtable

The integration is set up through Airtable's built-in Automations tool. No separate plugin is required — everything works via an HTTP request to the SMS.MD API directly from your automation.

1. Register with SMS.MD
   Create an account at partner.sms.md. Fill in your company details and sign the agreement — processing takes a few hours.
2. Top Up Your Balance
   Create an invoice in your personal account and pay it. Minimum deposit — 500 MDL. Unused funds never expire.
3. Register a Sender Name
   Submit a request for a sender name (your company or brand name). Registration with Moldovan operators takes 1–2 business days.
4. Get Your API Key
   In your SMS.MD dashboard, go to Settings → API and copy your key.
5. Create an Automation in Airtable
   Open your base, go to Automations, and click "+ New automation". Choose a trigger: new record, field change, or date arrival.
6. Add a "Send HTTP request" Action
   Select "Send HTTP request" as the action. Enter the SMS.MD API URL, set the method to POST, and pass your API key in the header. In the request body, specify the recipient's number and message text using dynamic fields from your table.
7. Test and Activate
   Run a test of the automation and confirm that the SMS is sent correctly. Enable the automation — from this point on, SMS messages will be sent whenever the trigger fires.
